NFL: Part 2

Rookie of the Year:
Reggie Bush - In a rookie class that has had more immediate impact stars than any other (Devin Hester, Vince Young, Matt Leinart, Marques Colston), Reggie Bush has been the one constant threat from the start of the year to the finish. I was watching some of the Saints first game at Slugger's in Chicago and caught some of the Saints game, and right away Reggie Bush was catching passes, picking up third downs, and drawing double teams. Though his stats aren't as impressive as Colston's, Colston rarely drew even the team's second best cornerback, and it's not exactly like the Saints offense has been powerless without him. Reggie has been there all year, and though his numbers are not spectacular - no other rookie has made such an impact.

dangit... i agree. but for the first 8 weeks of the season it was colston. i mean, bush had 1 touchdown. colston had 7. colston led the league in receiving yards. he was unbelieveable. every down was colston time. then he got hurt and bush stole the spotlight. the crazy thing is.... you didnt even mention maurice jones drew, joseph addai and lawrence maroney... maroney probably the least deserving candidate to be mentioned... but addai may end up with 1000 yards and 10 touchdowns... he had a 170 yard, 4 td game the week prior to bush's breakout (coincidence?) and everyone saw the highlights of what drew did to the colts... i mean, this is the best rookie class in a long time... and it's been without vernon davis who has had a leg injury all year but is an absolute beast.

by the way, i think you have to give VY a pretty close 2nd place vote... as you stated in your MVP column, he has singlehandedly brought this team from the crapper.... i mean, they're still not making the playoffs, but he has been unbelievable the past 4 weeks, 3 times leading the team to a game winning drive on its last possession.

yeah... i also want to point out how exciting it is to see the blog up and running again... i'm with mr. intensity on that one.

This blog being back is truly amazing and is a blessing in my life. ANTHONY- I am going to be in Chicago for about 2 weeks around Christmas, and if I get more of this no returning my text messages, not hanging out shit, I am going to be pissed. Hell, it kind of hurts my feelings. I thought we had some real moments in the bathtub last year with the brandy and bubble bath.

Oh, anyway. Yeah, I LOVE Reggie Bush. But...i think if Colston doesn't get hurt, it's all his. And VY could get it- think about it- if he brings them like 2 more wins in a row, it's his.

I wholeheartedly echo Bickel's statements about the rookie class. WE HAVEN'T EVEN MENTIONED LEINART YET! Think about it! Colston. Bush. Addai. Jones-Drew. Maroney. Leinart. VY. DeMeco Ryans. . . Pierre Woods...oh wait. But yeah, this rookie class is SICK so far. SICK. Cutler...yeah, jurie's still out. He could be good, too, though.

I'm a second year law student, and I misspelled "jury." That's...not a promising sign.

Colston would have won for sure if he hadn't gotten injured. But, I still say it was Bush all along. Statistically, he's not phenomenally impressive, but when you watch a Saints game, look at the defense shift his direction, look who they go to on 3rd and 2 either with a pass or a run. It's been that way all year; they just run the offense through him. And VY hasn't exactly been a statistical dynamo this year. But, you can't really make a wrong decision with this class. And where are the comments on my MVP list?

if you're talking about not being a statistical dynamo... you almost have to say the same thing about bush. he only hsa 7 touchdowns (including his punt return) and 1100 passing and receiving yards... compared to the 950 total yards and 11 touchdowns of maurice jones drew... who is also averaging 6.1 ypc vs. 3.2 for reggie bush. i was just saying if you're including what you mean to your team, VY has to be at WORST 1B on your ballot. I'm don't disagree with bush (although the saints looked at colston a LOT before his injury... he was getting like 15-20 looks a game) but i'm just making a case for VY who has completely won me over in the last few weeks as he reminded me why on Jan 4th last year, I was proclaiming him the #1 pick for the Texans... the guy WINS. period. ask pete carroll.

i may put more thoughts on here now, but am i the only one shocked that bush's longest run this year is 18 yards?
